DRIZORO has been awarded the Carbon Footprint Registry Seal for 2024, an official recognition that certifies the measurement and registration of the greenhouse gas emissions associated with its activity.

Registration in this registry certifies that DRIZORO has calculated its carbon footprint for 2024 and that this information has been validated and registered by the Spanish Climate Change Office in the Carbon Footprint, Compensation and Carbon Dioxide Absorption Projects Registry.

The registration corresponds to the activity of manufacture of other chemical products n.e.c. carried out by DRIZORO at its sole site in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), and includes the CALCULO type seal for the officially registered scopes 1 and 2.

What is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is an indicator used to quantify the greenhouse gas emissions generated directly or indirectly by an organization. Its calculation provides a more accurate view of the environmental impact associated with business activity and helps identify opportunities for improvement.

In recent years, emissions measurement has become an increasingly common practice in industrial, energy and manufacturing sectors, where having verifiable data is essential for planning actions aimed at more efficient resource management.

A tool for understanding and improving

Beyond compliance with specific requirements or procedures, a carbon footprint provides useful information for understanding how factors such as energy consumption, transport, facilities and certain production processes influence the emissions associated with an activity.

This knowledge makes it possible to establish objective benchmarks, assess the evolution of results over time and support decision-making related to efficiency and continuous improvement.

General process of the Carbon Footprint Registry

Which emissions are included in the calculation?

Carbon footprint calculation covers different sources of emissions associated with an organization’s activity and makes it possible to organize the information according to the origin of those emissions.

In the case of the CALCULO type seal obtained by DRIZORO, the registration corresponds to the so-called scopes 1 and 2. Scope 1 includes direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the organization, such as certain fuel consumption in facilities or company-owned vehicles. Scope 2 covers indirect emissions associated with the electricity consumed for carrying out the activity.

Although the term carbon footprint is commonly used, this indicator is not limited exclusively to carbon dioxide (CO2). The calculation considers different greenhouse gases and expresses the final result in a common unit known as CO2 equivalent, allowing the impact associated with different emission sources to be assessed consistently.

Identifying and quantifying these emissions provides an objective reference for analysing the evolution of results over time and supporting the implementation of measures aimed at efficiency and continuous improvement.
